What is CBU?

The System i Capacity BackUp Editions feature a minimum set of startup processors as well as additional standby processors that can be used at no-charge in the event of a disaster. In addition to their no-charge disaster usage, standby processors may be temporarily activated on a chargeable basis for production use.

The System i CBU Editions enable permanent processor activations to be purchased for production use. This allows a CBU Edition to now provide failover support in the event of unscheduled outages and role-swap support for scheduled outages, such as tape backup, failover testing, upgrades or service.

IBM i5/OS license entitlements, Enterprise Enablements & IPLA software licenses to primary system processors may now be transferred to the CBU system while the respective primary system processors are inactive – enabling a CBU system to provide failover/role-swap for a full range of test, disaster recovery and high-availability scenarios.  System registration is required - let Sirius help you.
