New demonstration: Disaster recovery for System x environments

Seeing is believing. And now Sirius has a demonstration to show you how to establish an x86 disaster recovery (DR) environment that can be tested and validated at any time without affecting production.

The production system is a System x3950 with VMware in Beaverton, OR attached to a NetApp FAS3070 (the equivalent of an N series 5600). Using SnapMirror, that storage device is mirrored to an IBM N series 5200 in Dallas, TX attached to a System x3950.
In the demo, we make changes to the production image and take a snapshot that is replicated automatically to Dallas. In Dallas, we use FlexClone to bring up the image with those changes without impacting the production environment in any way. It solves one of the most prevalent issues in DR: how do you validate your DR site without impacting production? With this solution, clients can test the DR site at any point in time with absolutely no interruption to the production environment.
